August Girl Gang Meeting

We had our Girl Gang meeting the first part of August and I have been wanting to post some of my pictures, but hadn't figured out how to put a photo on my new blog! The learning curve is keeping me 'stumped' on many things I am trying to do on here. Between Nedra, Kim and many of you offering helpful hints, I may get this figured out yet.
We have a wonderful Girl Gang group that meets monthly. I am a 'wanna be' in the sense that I just watch and stare and drool over all the beautiful show and tells and all the applique that people bring as they complete their projects. Me...I just have good intentions paving the way to you know where...certainly not to my sewing room to accomplish something! Anyway, we have a wonderful friend who was asked to come and show us some of her applique. Her name is Paula M. and she is always willing to share, teach, coach, and babysit anyone who wants to learn to applique. (she's already baby sat me once and I need a refresher course!)
Here are a few of the photos of her work...

This is a start of a quilt that Paula is 'journaling' about her life. It shows where here church was and school, etc. from her childhood. It is currently a 'flimsy' as it's in the works, but the photo doesn't do it justice.

I wanted you to see the border on this one. Paula is gifted with color and fabric choices and I love everything she does.

Another flimsy, but so darling!

When I grow up, I want to do scallops!

I wanted to show you the border on this one too.

I'll try and do a better job with photos in the future. I can see where I would have taken different shots if I knew I would be a future blogger. I also realize I need to lower the pixel count on my camera as this took forever to load tonight. But I hope you get the idea of what fun quilters we have at our meetings. Live Well. Judi

  1. Hurrah! You did very well! And it was fun being able to talk while you waited for all those pictures to download. You know I am a big fan of Paula, so thanks for sharing some of her work. One time I had the honor of going to her house, and I'm still in awe of the fact she produces so many scrap quilts when she doesn't have any leftover fabrics. How does she DO that?

  4. Look at you! You're doing it!! Yippee!!! I have to ask...What kind of computer do you have? If it's a Mac I can show you how to make your photos smaller but, if it's a PC, I'm not so sure. I love your background, too, it's darling!
