Last night at our Alpine Meeting we had a little show of vintage aprons and there was one technique I just had to show you! This little beauty had rick rack on the edges that was done in the most darling way. I took a close up of the back so you can see that one edge of the rick rack is underneath and one is on top. Then the seamstress add little 'leaves' over the top of the point of the rick rack and made french knots between in the 'ditches'. In any case, this might be so cute on the edge of a quilt or to embellish children's clothing, etc. I simply had to share it with you.
This is a quilt of Nancy's and a real beauty. The handwork is over the top! And the one below is also beyond beautiful. ALL of that cute blue you see is not a printed fabric, but is all handwork!
This is another beauty. That's Nancy on the left. Very sweet woman!
I really liked the quilt above because it's simple and scrappy and fun the one below is amazing. It's called something about Civil War Love Letters and is so beautiful.
I haven't done much blogging lately, but am repenting so that our son in Boston can see some of the fun we had this weekend celebrating Jena's birthday. We took her downtown to do some shopping and we were lucky enough to have our granddaughter for the weekend. Maddox was trying on some of the glasses and hats in the shoe store while she was waiting for the boring adults to figure out what they were going to buy. She's the cutest ever! (I only admit a tiny bit of bias :)!! We went out to dinner in the evening and had a wonderful time. Jena, Greg and Maddox enjoying their chips and salsa at the restaurant.
Jena's sisters posing for the camera. Later you'll see photos of what they're really like!!
Jared wanting in on the fun!!
The Birthday girl and her daddy.
Maddox watching the gift opening perched in the best place to see the action.
Now you see what the girls are really like!! They wrestle and play constantly and it's about impossible to get them to sit still long enough to get a good photo of them. I always thought when they were younger that they would out grow this playfulness, but it hasn't happened yet. Our children have always been more like puppies than like people!
Happy birthday honey. I hope you had a wonderful day and you have an even better year!! Love, momma
My husband and I are the parents of 5 children. 2 boys and 3 girls. I love to travel, watch my children succeed, quilt, study nutrition (it's been a 35 year obsession), help others achieve good health, playing for hours in the kitchen creating awesome food and practice yoga.
